Big Brothers Big Sisters Windsor Essex, organizers of the Battle of the Hors D’oeuvres is turning the traditional sit-down gala into a nightclub event full of fun, food and fundraising!
This year’s event is titled “Amuse Your Bouche”, and will be held on Thursday April 26th, 2012 at St. Clair College of the Arts. More than a dinner and gala, the idea is interaction. There will be no sit-down dinner, offering more opportunities for people to get together, meet each other, chat with the chefs and wineries, enjoy creative cuisine and celebrate what we think is a pretty terrific community organization. But the essential aim remains: an event with food, style, fun and fundraising for an important cause.
Meet and mingle, and come as you are for this new, interactive event late in the week and for only $75! This includes all the food and wine from two dozen combined local restaurants and wineries, each with their own signature station.
Think of it as an indoor food and wine festival. We’ll have food stations and winery displays to view, visit and wander around.
With the night-time waterfront vista as a backdrop, the displays of food and wine all around and background music will all help set the mood for a special, made-in-Windsor evening.
Nibble and sip your way through a variety of restaurant stations. Cast your ballot by dropping a swizzle stick to vote for a food favourite. Sign up for silent auction items. Just linger and lounge around.
After more than 25 years, staging still another banquet just seemed so stale. It’s time to move on from a traditional and crowded gala format that can leave guests and participants alike wanting so much more beyond a long evening spent tableside.
We’ll highlight our Big Brothers Big Sisters organization with special recognition. We’ll showcase local hospitality students with a special pre-amuse bouche preview reception. You won’t walk away hungry, this year we are providing larger portions and more variety, including seafood and vegetarian items along with lamb, chicken, beef and pork.
Of course, we need you. Without your loyal support, energy, encouragement and enthusiasm we would not have even bothered to continue what’s become such a signature, annual event for our fair city.
We just want to try the recipe with another approach with the same essential and local ingredient: You!
